2008 Scarecrows on the Marietta Square Winners Announced!

Scarecrows took over the Marietta Square in October as part of Halloween Happenings, and judges awarded the fall creations during a day of events October 18. Individuals, groups, businesses, schools and clubs created scarecrows for display in Glover Park.

This weekend the Thunderbirds rocked the Marietta area with the incredible Wings Over Marietta”> show. The logistical situation turned out to be a bit of an issue with some patrons having to wait well over 2 1/2 hours to reach the bus to return back to the parking area.

Sawyer Road Teacher Named 2008 Milken Award Winner

Congratulations to Sawyer Road Teacher Susan Grigg who was recently named 2008 Milken Award Winner. Susan is the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program Coordinator at Sawyer Road Elementary School in Marietta. She is one of two teachers named Georgia’s 2008 National Milken Educators of the Year. Susan received $25,000 and other prizes.
