The city of Marietta is offering free Christmas tree pick up to city residents the first and second week and the first Wednesday of January 2009. Residents must have their tree — free of decorations, lights, stands, tinsel and nails — curbside by 7 a.m. to ensure pick up.

Hundreds of area youth and their families attended Holidays around the World December 18 at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 1775 Parkway Place.
In addition to learning about and celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Las Posadas, children received toys, and families received canned goods and help writing their resumes and conducting job searches.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived December 4 at Glover Park in the Marietta Square. Local children’s choruses performed holiday music while Santa lit the giant Christmas tree, donated by Big John’s Christmas Trees, and visited with children in the gazebo.
