Applications are being accepted for artists and craftspeople to participate in the 33rd annual Harvest Square Arts and Crafts Festival, which will be held on the Square Saturday, October 17 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Artists are needed in many areas including painting, pottery, woodwork, metal, glass, fabric, floral designs, candles and much more. The application deadline is August 11. “Applications will be accepted after August 11 if spaces are available in that category,” Marietta Recreation supervisor Sandra Johnson said.
Applications are available for download on the city’s Web site and can be returned to the Parks and Recreation Department. Applications are also available in the Parks and Recreation Department, located on the third floor of City Hall, 205 Lawrence Street.
The event will also feature Scarecrows in the Square and Halloween Happenings for children. Festival goers can also visit the Marietta Square Farmers Market from 9 a.m.-noon and buy Georgia-grown favorites including potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, beans, flower arrangements, local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, fudge, pies, jelly, jam and preserves. Customers can also take home many live garden, yard and culinary herb plants and fresh-squeezed lemonade.
Free parking will be available in the Cherokee Street parking deck. Handicapped parking will also be available. Admission to the festival and farmers market is free.
The Marietta Parks and Recreation Department sponsors this festival each fall.
