Marietta Fire chief Jackie Gibbs announced promotions July 29 for several veterans of the department.
Scott Tucker has been promoted to the rank of assistant chief and newly appointed to the position of fire marshal. He has been an asset to the organization with 27 years of service. He began his career in 1982 as a firefighter and in 1994 was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to fire investigations, a position he held until 2000 when he became the deputy fire marshal. As the new fire marshal, he will be responsible for supervising and performing fire investigations, inspections and public education. Photo
J.D. Hill has been promoted to the rank of commander and given the assignment of deputy fire marshal. He began his career as a firefighter in 1986, spending 23 years in fire suppression. Three years ago he became the lieutenant over inspections within fire prevention, where he became certified as an inspector, investigator and educator, giving him the knowledge needed to take on his newest assignment.
