The Marietta Pilgrimage Home Tour has been bestowed with another honor. The Southeast Tourism Society has named the Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour a Top Twenty Event in the Southeast. This is the thirteenth time the tour has received the honor, putting it in the same category as Christmas at Biltmore and Fantasy in Lights at Callaway.
The latest award joins previous honors such as the American Bus Association’s “Top 100 Events in North America” and the “Dan Biggers Special Event Award” given by the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus. These awards demonstrate that the honor has become one of the premier events in Georgia and the Southeast.
“We’re thrilled to be once again named to such a prestigious list,” Marietta Welcome Center executive director Theresa Jenkins said. “It demonstrates the Pilgrimage is one of the premier holiday events in Georgia and the Southeast.” The Top Twenty list is sent to more than 400 publications and television stations throughout the Southeast and appears in daily newspapers in large cities including Atlanta, Nashville and Charlotte.
The 2009 Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour will be held December 5-6 and will feature historic homes in the Church-Cherokee Street Historic District. Tour homes will be announced at a later date.
The Marietta Pilgrimage Home Tour promotes awareness of historical preservation and heritage tourism, and is co-sponsored by the Marietta Welcome Center & Visitors Bureau and Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society.
