Yesterday, we brought you the story that the City of Marietta would be voting last night on whether or not smoking would be allowed in Marietta City parks or not. Council members voted unanimously on Wednesday evening to permanently ban smoking in the 1.5-acre park.
“The ban goes into effect today”, said City Manager Bill Bruton. He said “a judge could impose a fine of up to $500 for anyone caught lighting up in the park.”
So the next time you go to light up in the City of Marietta’s Square, think twice or it might just cost you $500.
