Whitlock Avenue launches new feature for your voice: The VENT
Back in 2006 when we launched WhitlockAvenue.com, one of the main reasons we started the site was to give the citizens of Marietta a place where they could voice their opinions. Being that the City of Marietta is one of the best places to live in the south, we wanted to make sure that there was a great place for us all to congregate and discuss issues going on in the city. Everything from the restoration of the Strand Theater to redevelopment in the city – we want to be the place where you can discuss what’s on your mind.
That being said, we’ve gotten some great feedback from our readers over the last few weeks about how to better engage everyone in the ongoing conversation. So without further ado, we’re launching a new section of WhitlockAvenue.com – The VENT. Yep, it’s just what it you think it is – a place where you can send us what’s on your mind and we’ll post it for all to read and comment on. We’ve setup a dedicated inbox to support this new area of the site – simply send us an email to news @ whitlockavenue.com and we’ll share your thoughts with everyone on the Whitlock Avenue Vent.
We’d love to hear what’s on your mind and what the issues are that you have within the city – both positive and negative. We’ll be posting your VENTs as they come in, and then each Thursday we’ll post a VENT summary to recap the week.

Contractor tears up Reynold’s St. – leaves it a mess
I live on the south side of Whitlock Ave. I drive back and forth to the I75 corridor every day. To get there I drive down Maxwell, etc., finally exiting the neighborhood via Reynold’s St. (by the CVS). Within the last few months a contractor tore up Reynold’s St. and then put it back in a condition that is 10x worse than what it was. It has really pissed me off b/c not only does it look like crap, the road will damage vehicles by knocking the wheels out of alignment. I ended up calling the Marietta Streets and Whatever Department to file a complaint. – Paul

What is the Big Chicken?
Kennesaw Ave. was redone this past summer. It’s DECEMBER. Could someone tell me exactly when they plan on having it finished? It rains and Kennesaw Ave. floods worse than it did before. Maple, Holland, Stewart and Atwood intersections are still torn up…WHEN WILL IT BE FINISHED?
