One of the things that Marietta has done an exceptional job with is the Marietta Police department. From everyday law enforcement to special events, the Marietta Police do an amazing job at providing security and safety for the citizens.
Recently, the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety presented the Marietta Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit (STEP) the 2008 Governor’s Challenge Award for Bike/Pedestrian Safety for the second year in a row.
The award was presented to the STEP unit at a ceremony in Perry September 19 for significantly reducing bicycle and pedestrian-related accidents and fatalities.
“The Marietta Police Department applauds Sgt. Grant Foster, Officer Terry Wardlaw, Officer Brian Honea, Officer Mario Beneito, Officer Nick Costos, and Officer Ken Wishon for their dedication to the safety of our motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians in Marietta,” Marietta Police Chief Dan Flynn said.
