STOP THE ROAD signs are back

Well It looks like the infamous yellow “Stop The Road” signs are back on Whitlock Avenue. It seems that every couple years these infamous yellow signs come back from the residents. I can’t say that I blame everyone when it comes to this issue. The widening of Whitlock Avenue really wouldn’t provide any type of fix other than to hurry up and get traffic clogged down Whitlock just a bit further west.
Traffic studies come up each time as the city leaders decide what to do about the influx of clogged traffic from Paulding County. When you boil it down, the issue is that everyone lives outside the city of Marietta and needs to travel to the city. Looking back 20 years, the infrastructure wasn’t built to handle anywhere near the load of traffic we see today.
How do you know that Paulding is a contributor? I simply look at the “Vote for Paulding County Sheriff” signs that are stuck in the ground just west on Whitlock Avenue about 1 mile from the Square east on Whitlock Avenue/Dallas Highway. What do you think?
If you head over to the AJC, Mike King has an excellent article on the full proposal for the widening of Whitlock Avenue
