Burnt Hickory and Whitlock - dangerous intersection?
Apr 22nd, 2006 | By mpi2 | Category: Site FeaturesIt looks like it’s turning out to be a great day for Family Fun Day on the Square! The sun is out and it’s getting hot. The festivities are going until 3pm today and they are free (always a good thing!) . I wanted to throw out an idea for you all to discuss from one of our readers. Here is what she sent in to us:
This intersection is just west of the new “Burnt Hickory Village” development on Whitlock.
I am concerned about the intersection at the corner of Burnt Hickory and Whitlock. It is dangerous. The guard rail has been knocked down and it is over grown with weeds. It has huge pot holes on the left side of Burst Hickory. I have contacted the Georgia DOT but they have not responded to my complaints. Anyone else have any suggestions?????
Interesting that the Georgia DOT didn’t even respond to her, I wonder if she should have contacted the local Marietta Government regarding the issue? Any thoughts? Share your opinion by clicking the icon below!

that guard rail has been like that for 15 or more years. And the pot holes are from the people that drive off the pavement (crossing a solid while line) to get around traffic in order to turn onto Whitlock.
While certainly unsightly, it is certainly not dangerous except to the law breakers.
The last thing the area needs is another half-empty strip mall. Just another developer destroying grand old oak trees and historic buildings for a quick buck. Looking forward to that “upscale” nail salon, dry cleaner, cell phone store, and ridiculous coffee shop.
