Emerson Coffee Company: New Beans in Town

This morning, we visited the new Emerson Coffee Company coffeehouse on Roswell Street. From the outset, the design work caught my eye. The outside of the building has an old-school, art deco style, especially in the silver lettering of the company name. Once you’re inside, welcome to the modern era! The layout of the store is spacious and clean, with an amazing concrete floor and beautiful colors. Lighting fixtures are industrial and subtle. The location boasts a wall-mounted, flat-panel TV, which had a news channel on when we visited. The volume was very low so it wasn’t intrusive. You also have the luxury of a free, wi-fi internet connection in the cafe.
I enjoyed a double regular Americano with my cheese streusel muffin. The espresso in the drink tasted good and the muffin was tasty. For a limited time, Emerson is offering an “opening special” on several of their latte drinks. They even have a drive-thru for commuters, which is convenient.
If you’re looking for a great place to relax and enjoy some coffee, give the new Emerson Coffee Company location a try. They’re located at 358 Roswell St, Suite 1200, right past the central library (going east) and across the street from the cemetery. – Emerson Coffee House Marietta

[...] I waited in line (thankfully in my car) for over 10 minutes to get a coffee at the new local coffee shop, Emerson Coffee Company. The bizarre thing is that there was only 1 car in front of me. [...]
Personally, i think the service at Emerson Coffee Company is very poor. There are some employees that are so rude and take a very long time to get my coffee out, which by the way never tastes fresh. I either thing the owners need to fire and rehire other workers and get FRESH coffee or just focus on their construction they are building and stop working in something they know nothing about.
I don’t know what these other folks are talking about with poor service. I was there about a month ago, and LOVED it. The staff was friendly and quick. The decor is beautiful…..I loved everything about my experience there!
Just a note- Emerson is cash-only, so debit-happy coffee addicts will need to plan a stop by the ATM first!
I was just there two days ago and they took my check card so they must have added that feature. I just got a latte and it was creamy and rich. About the same price as Starbucks but much better quality. Will definitely be going there in the mornings. I would rather spend my money on a great cup of coffee at a small store like Emerson’s than waste it on a bad cup at Starbucks. I am also assuming that they took the advice of one of the previous commenters because the staff I encountered was extremely friendly and efficient with my drink.
I just went to Emerson for the first time this morning. The staff was both friendly and efficient. If there has been any delay getting your coffee, I can understand why. They make everything fresh when you order it. The coffee isn’t sitting around in a carafe getting stale and cold. A cup of “regular” coffee is actually and Americano consisting of freshly pulled shots of espresso and hot water. The coffee is worth the wait and if you have the time to go in and relax, you certainly won’t be disappointed.
I stopped in Emersons awhile back and the service was horrible. The tennager that was working was very rude and was in no hurry to prepare my coffee. (Just a helpful hint) The next time you look into hiring new employees you should really evaluate them and make sure they have a friendly personality. She had no personality and is probably running off alot of your business. I will never be back thanks to her!!
Their hours are not posted on the window and it seems like they’re NEVER open! What coffee shop doesn’t serve coffee on Sunday?! On the other hand, the raspberry mocha is deeeeelish.
I’m sitting at Emerson Coffee Company right now reading all the reviews and I have to disagree with a few. I’ve been coming here for a little over a year and I feel like the staff is very nice. The coffee shop is always clean and tidy and now that I am “regular” I never have to tell them my order, they make it for me as soon as my car pulls up! How sweet is that? That’s real service if you ask me, I used to be a die hard Starbucks person and, yes, I go there when Emerson is closed on the weekends. I, now enjoy the taste of Emerson’s espresso over any coffee shop! As far as the comment about waiting too long in the drive-thru, all I have to say is: maybe it’s time for you to just get out of the car and stop inside? People really spend too much time in their car anyway! The coffee shop has a really nice relaxing environment and you can use their wi-fi with purchase of espresso drink. That’s a pretty great deal right? I think so. I’m sitting here now and all the customers that come in are greeted in a kind manner and seem to have small conversations with the baristas. Give them a chance! Everybody has bad days.
I have been going to Emerson Coffee since the day they opened. I have always been greeted with a smile and the staff really knows how to make you feel at home. I noticed on the back wall a sign that states: Customers are the life blood of Emerson Coffee – We must treat them as a member of the Emerson coffee family – Well all I can say is yes they do treat everyone like a family member that walk through the door. I would like to be able to go in on the weekend – but I also understand it is a small independent. Also, the comment above about the price equal to Starbucks…….Well I get a large mocha bianca (3 shots with Ghirardeli Chocolate) with whip for $3.71 – Starbucks $5.49 (SB charges for the whip and the extra shot) – So cost wise it is no comparison. Tell your friends – maybe the more we get in there they will increase their hours and days open!
I like the atmosphere ok and the brew is fine. But, I would never drive out of my to get there. The hours of operation are not posted and several times, soon after sitting down with my latte, I have been told that they were about to close. Many times I have driven by with intentions of stopping and they were closed. For the life of me I can’t understand why a serious retailer would keep banker’s hours. Be careful when you sit at a table. The floors (great looking concrete) are not level and the tables rock around on them. This is not a good inviroment for a full cup of coffee and I have worn my latte out of the shop at least twice. Once, when I went into the shop, someone was stretched out on the couch. I thought maybe it was a vagrant but this person (a young lady) then got up and took my order. I wish the owner would sell out to someone that was serious about this business.
R.I.P.
I had a lot of good times here. I’ll miss it a lot. I loved this shop.
Emerson Coffee Company is No more. It is Now Marietta Cigar and Coffee Company. I can say that the difference in the product and the service is night and day. There is a smoking lounge separated from the coffee side. It is still the Emerson brand coffee, which is a blend of Costa Rican and Sumatra Beans ground to an espresso ground-used for all espresso based drinks and their brewed coffee. Which I found to be outstanding. The baked goods seem better and bigger; definitely worth the price. Personally I think they should charge more. The service is out of this world amazing. The barista, John, in the early mornings is amazing. Very warm and apt to please. The owner Michelle Prewett is a touch of Southern Hospitality the Marietta Square area has been lacking. From my experience emerson’s before held inconsistent hours and their product was fair and a majority of the time inconsistent as well. Now, even with a the cigars and smoking lounge, it is by far better than anything emerson’s was; and by far anything Starbuck’s has striven to be. They are open seven days a week, free Wi-Fi, Smoking Lounge, and a dining area for non-smokers. The decor is better and more in tuned to the coffee house vibe. Warm and inviting. Almost like home. The tables are in need of improvement, but to my understanding it is something the new owners look to change in the future.
Seriously go check the new emerson’s: Marietta Cigar and Coffee Company
